The Broomstick Forest - 5+

reacties

A performance in which everything is more than it seems
We're on top of a pile of rubbish and start to dig. We find a broomstick that looks like a tree. A chair begins to float like a balloon. The old blanket turns into a lake. A forest of broomsticks appears, through which a seven-legged horse gallops as a headless robot and a big-bottomed man wanders around. Danger lurks in every shadow, but we know exactly what to do in case of a serious threat! With a little courage and imagination we'll easily find our way through the forest.

Welcome to the world of rumble-stumble-smack-right-in-your-face. Where imagination shoots back and forth, where things come to life, where nobody gets away without torn clothes. You will get lost in The Broomstick Forest. Now, who doesn't want that?

Jef Van gestel about The Broomstick Forest:
"In The broomstick forest I want to show that you don't need expensive toys to have a good time. A cardboard box, a bucket, a spoon, a plastic cup or a newspaper are all you need. For now, I consider the performance to be unrestricted, with just two or three actors on stage, surrounded by rubbish. The performance and story arise from playing with that rubbish. That's how I want to show how theatre is made. How a world in which you can loose yourself is created from scratch."
